Meta Keywords for SEO

Meta tags play a significant role in SEO. Meta tags give the search engine crawlers important information about the respective web page and the whole website as a whole.

Search Engine Robots categorize the web page as per the information given in Meta Tags such as Meta Title, Meta Description, Meta Keywords, Meta Name Robots etc.

The robots/crawler read while reading the Meta tags, go through the meta keywords and categorize your website accordingly. Meta Keywords include all possible variations of the targeted keywords.

As SEO largely depends upon keywords, a webmaster should first understand in detail –

Identification of Meta Keywords

Meta Keywords are of three types:

1. Similar Keywords
2. Keyword Phrases
3. Semantic Keywords

Similar Keywords: Similar keywords are those targeted words which are mentioned on the web page. Example, for a web page on India tour, similar keywords would be India Tour, India Tours, Tour to India, Tours in India and so on. ‘India Tour’ is common in similar keywords.

Semantic Keywords: Semantic Keywords in simple words means related keywords or the synonyms of similar keywords. Example, for a web page on India tour with similar keywords would be India tour, India Tours, Tour to India, Tours in India, semantic keywords would be India Tour, India Travel, Indian Holidays, Indian vacations etc. These are search based keywords.

Keyword Phrases: Keyword Phrases are long tailed keywords such as Discounted India Tours, Best Tours in India etc

How to write Meta Keywords?

Word Limit: Meta Keywords are usually described / mentioned within 200 characters only.

Separation of keywords: Meta Keywords are separated using comma.
